AGM
Our AGM has moved from October to March, so that any newly elected officers are not thrown straight into the organisation of the Christmas Fair. This year’s AGM is on 17 March from 7 p.m. in the main hall, and we hope to welcome large numbers of you with a glass of wine. Remember, it’s your PTA, and you are always welcome to come along and find out more about what we do. Although no one will be pressured to join the committee, fresh faces and fresh ideas are always helpful.
If, on the other hand, you would like to organise your own fundraiser independently of the PTA, we would be delighted to administer the profits on behalf of the children! Please note our charity number.

Make sure 25th April is in your diary. Details to follow.

The PTA would like to say an enormous, heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who helped out on Saturday: parents, staff and children. The way people pitched in was a perfect example of the community spirit that makes Foulds such a wonderful school.
We are also extremely grateful to all those who offered something for auction, enabling us to raise over £2,600 for the benefit of the children.
If you have not yet paid your winning bid money, please send it in via the red box as soon as possible, with your name and a note of which lot you are paying for. Cheques payable to Foulds School PTA.

The Furzefield staff who entertained the children at the beginning of the barbecue have left some leaflets about summer membership. Please pick one up from the pockets outside the office.

Family Barbecue and Auction of Promises 28th June
We have some really great stuff for you to bid on, from a banoffee pie to a giant pavlova, from a Ritz-style tea for six to a holistic massage, from a ‘legends’ tour of the Emirates Stadium with an Arsenal hero to the chance for your child to be headteacher for half a day!
Can’t decide what promise to offer? Here are some ideas from previous auctions: manicures and other beauty treaments; mowing a lawn; babysitting; preparing a picnic or kids’ tea party; walking your dog; baking a cake; cleaning; cooking a special meal; wrapping your Christmas presents; face-painting for a party; cinema/theatre tickets. Perhaps your business could offer a voucher? Remember, anything goes!
On the day, please bring your chequebook; also your drinks including any soft drinks other than squash (which we will provide).
Please note that the Toddler Zone will be an unsupervised play area and you will need to stay with your child.
We are also asking for donations of bottles of alcohol for a special auction item. You can bring these in from tomorrow, and leave on the stage in the hall. Booze only, please, no ketchup etc.
Last but not least, we do need help, especially from any dads who can come in in the morning to set up.

Jewellery Recycling
Remember to bring back your filled envelope BY TOMORROW and put it in the posting box in the Departure Lounge. Please make sure you haven’t taken any jewellery without permission, and that you have put your NAME AND CLASS clearly on the envelope, so we can enter you in the prize draw.

Help!
Your PTA committee is working hard to raise money for the school, but we can’t always do everything ourselves. Please visit the office and sign either an Ice-cream Friday or a BBQ rota, perhaps both. Thank you very much!

Family Barbecue and Auction of Promises 28th June
Have we got a family event for you! FREE meal (veggie option available), FREE soft drinks for the kids, FREE entertainer, FREE gym activities with Furzefield Centre staff, FREE tattoos, Toddler Zone – and more!
Promises, promises . . . The auction is looking quite exciting already, with a day’s childcare, a decluttering service, and a chance to record your own single, to name a few. But we need plenty more promises so please put on your thinking caps and let us know what you can offer. (Auction proceeds go to benefit the school, of course.)

Ladies’ Indulgence Evening 25th September
Are you a beauty therapist, masseuse or similar? Do you sell gifts, toiletries, jewellery etc.? If so, please contact Juliette Castang as soon as possible at juliette123@tiscali.co.uk to book your stall.

PTA NEWS 5th June (updated on 05/06/2008 12:23:11)
Did you know that many parts of the world have been blighted by mining and quarrying, which destroy the natural environment and wildlife habitats and can cause environmental and health problems for local people? Recycling metals is one way our community can lessen its usage of resources
and help protect the environment. AND by joining in with this project you get the chance to win a fantastic prize! Return you envelope by next Friday; there will be a posting box in the departure lounge.

Family BBQ and Auction of Promises 28th June
Professional children’s entertainer, football, gym competition run by Furzefield Centre staff, delicious food, a fun auction of fabulous stuff . . . Don’t miss this brilliant day!

Family Barbecue and Auction of Promises
Promises received so far include a trip for three people to see the Saracens play rugby in Watford, and some huge and luxurious hand-made cakes. We need lots more, so please get pledging, using the form in the newsletter. As well as the auction, there will be a quiz for the kids, and plenty of fun for all the family, so keep 28th June free in your diary.

Treasurer needed
The PTA’s Treasurer, Lola Stanley, will be leaving the post in the autumn. We need to find a replacement -- anyone who can operate a calculator will be great! During her last year as a Foulds parent Lola will offer full training and ongoing support to her successor. Why not ask her about it in the playground?

The ball starts at 7.30 for 8, with a complimentary welcome drink followed by a three-course meal with a couple of bottles of wine on each table. There will be a raffle, a bar and a live band.

If you are a UK taxpayer we can claim Gift Aid on your donation (so that £10 becomes £12.80). You will need to fill out a Gift Aid authorisation form, which we will send you with your ticket. Thank you very much.

Foulds Association (updated on 10/11/2005 10:44:55)
The main aim of the Foulds Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is to advance the education of the pupils by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities for education at the school which are not normally provided by the Local Education Authority (LEA). Foulds PTA organise and engage in activities to further this aim and in so doing foster more extended relationships between staff, parents and others associated with the school.

The PTA committee is made up of parents of current pupils elected annually at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), together with volunteer members of staff. Foulds PTA aim to provide a wide variety of events for both adults and children throughout the academic year. Each Summer we hold a major activity which alternates between a Summer Fair or a Family Barbecue; both are very well attended and twice as enjoyable in fine weather! At the end of November Foulds holds its annual Christmas Fair. Re-kindling the Christmas spirit, it is just the place to buy presents whilst the children involve themselves in Christmas activities such as making decorations, icing biscuits etc. Father Christmas manages to take time out from his busy schedule to spend the day at Foulds Christmas Fair too!

Another annual activity is the Foulds Quiz evening; a very popular event which brings out the competitive spirit in all of us! In addition to these activities we hold a selection of evening for adult entertainment such as race nights, barn dances, silent auctions and musical evenings organised in conjunction with local bands. These have included a Rhythm and Blues night and a County and Western night; both were enjoyed by wide audiences.

Throughout the course of the year there are also activities arranged for the children's participation. The most popular of these activities are discos and the children's fashion shows. Our 'Bad hair day' disco certainly demonstrated the best (or worst!) hair do's imaginable and everyone got to let their hair down!

Along with all the fun and enjoyment experienced with these activities we also manage to raise lots of money each year. This is then ploughed back into school, and used to buy anything from books to computers. Our most recent major projects have been the buying of sheltered pagodas providing shade for the playgrounds, renewing the curtains in the main hall and helping to build and furnish our fantasic new library; thus improving the learning environment.

Foulds PTA have a dedicated committee and very supportive parents which contributes greatly to our success. As with all fund raising it does involve some hard work but also provides the opportunity to work together and have fun and as a result the school and our children benefit from all the effort.

Why not join us at a PTA event, and add to this success?
