Athletics - 1st at Copthall again - 06.07.10 (updated on 09/07/2010 19:15:53)
On Tuesday the annual inter schools athletics competition for the East and Central partnerships took place. Foulds competed in the medium schools section against children from 5 other teams. In the morning it was the turn of the athletes taking part in the field events, comprising high jump, long jump, javelin and ball throwing. Everyone did well with a number of children recording personal bests in their events. We managed a double in the high jump with Elliot and George both finishing first. We also grabbed top spot in Y5 girls javelin (Abigail), Y6 boys javelin (Luke) and Y5 boys ball throwing (Joe)
In the afternoon it was the turn of the track and tug of war team. Over 2 hours we saw a high standard of sprinting, distance and relay running. Cheered on by 60 loud and supportive children from Foulds we continued to do well starting off the afternoon with all four Y3 sprinters claiming first place in their respective races. As the competition progressed we continued to amass a sizeable collection of points and the relay teams completed the day in suitable fashion winning 4 of their 8 races. When all the points had been added up from the morning and afternoon we had managed to win the medium schools field events and the overall medium schools trophy. The final good news was to discover we had scored more points than any other school in the small, medium and large schools competitions (a total of 24 schools) which meant Foulds are the overall champions for 2010!
Well done to all the team for a great effort and particular thanks to Mrs Kent for helping with coaching the squad for the last 5 weeks.

Football - East Barnet Festival - 04.07.10 (updated on 05/07/2010 19:21:43)
Last Sunday the Year 5 and 6 football teams entered the East Barnet festival football tournament hosted by Barnet FC. Each of the seven teams that entered were scheduled to play each other in a mini league with the top four qualifying for the knockout stages.
The Year 6 team were very commanding in their games, with Luke rallying the defence and Elliot leading the attack. They won 4 games and drew 2 to finish in 1st place, the highlight being Luke’s goal from the halfway line. The Foulds Y5 team meanwhile had to work a bit harder to qualify, recording 2 wins, 2 draws (including their game against Foulds Y6) and 2 losses to finish 3rd.
In the semi finals the Year 6 team took on Danegrove Y6 whilst Year 5 also took on their Danegrove counterparts. In the group games both matches had been close and the rematches were just as tight. Year 6 were the better team again in their game but couldn’t find the elusive goal and drew 0-0. Year 5 edged their game and deservedly took a 1-0 lead through Rufus but were pegged back by a free kick in the last minute. With both games tied at full time, they both went to penalties! In two simultaneous shootouts, both teams were to suffer heartbreak as Year 5 lost 5-4 and Year 6 lost 3-2.
Foulds Y5 and Y6 therefore met each other again to battle it out for 3rd position. In another tight game it was 0-0 at full time and after 5 minutes of golden goal extra time, there was still nothing to separate the sides. So, both Foulds teams faced penalties again with Y5 coming out on top winning 5-4. They were then presented their 3rd place medals by ex-Barnet striker Giuliano Grazioli.
Teams: Y6 Luke (c), Joseph, Parthiban, Oliver, Jordan, Elliot, Klevis
Y5 George (c), Sam G, Tom A, Fintan, Mac, Rufus, Dominic, Jake

Tag Rugby - London Youth Games - 01.07.10 (updated on 02/07/2010 17:01:33)
For the second year in succession the Foulds' tag rugby team made the long trip to Crystal Palace Sports complex as Barnet's representatives in the London Youth Games. We qualified for this by winning the Borough tag competition back in November so we'd been looking forward to it and training in preparation for a long time!
After a relatively quick journey we arrived in time for the official opening with the Games flame being lit by none other than the Mayor of London, the beloved Boris, ably assisted by 400m Olymic champion Christine Ohurougu. Then it was down to business and seeing how well we'd do against the other 31 competing teams.
We were drawn in a group of 4 teams and played Hackney first running out 4 - 2 winners in a rather scrappy game, but then we hit our straps and powered to a 7 - 3 win over Camden to set up a group deciding match against Merton. At half time we were 4 - 1 down, but turned it around in the second half to come back to 4- 3, but despite playing really well against a good side we fell just short. This sent us into knock out rounds to decide the minor places and in the quarter final of the Bowl competition (for group runners up) we thrashed Greenwich 6- 1. Next came a semi final versus Hillingdon, a game we should probably have won but lost narrowly 4-3. Our final game was the Bowl 3rd place play off against Redbridge and we saved our best to last racing into a 5 - 0 half time lead before cantering to a 8 - 3 victory.
Congratulations if you've followed the various game permutations this far! When the final analysis was done we finished in 11th place out of 32 teams, a notable achievement on a memorable day. Well done to all the squad who overcame injuries, sickness and lack of toilet facilities to produce some great rugby and special thanks to Mrs Wilkinson and Mr Neusten for their help and support on a day that started at 6.55am and ended at 6.10pm.
Squad: Oliver, Joseph, Maddie, Ella, Elliot, Luke, Megan, Mariam, Dominic and Jamie

Cricket - Kwik cricket tournament - 16.06.10 (updated on 18/06/2010 22:16:33)
Last Wednesday the Foulds kwik cricket squad travelled to Old Elizabethan’s cricket ground to play in the Borough tournament. 28 schools were competing to win the cup and be named the best team in Barnet.
In kwik cricket you start with 200 runs, score runs in the normal way, but lose 5 runs every time you lose a wicket. It is 8 a side and everyone has to bowl and bat.
Foulds were drawn in a group with St Mary’s, Underhill and St Mary’s and St John’s. Unfortunately Underhill didn’t turn up (they must have heard how good we were!) so we only played two league matches both of which we won convincingly to march into the last 16. Our next opponents were Whitings Hill who we beat by 254 to 223 to set up a quarter final match against Edgware. The standard was getting higher but Foulds continued to play really well, our catching and fielding being a real strength, and we managed to beat Edgware easily. Next came Moss Hall, a match Ms Woolf is always keen to win for some reason. An early onslaught from Oliver, who hit the first ball of the match for 6 and then deposited another 6 onto the pavilion roof left Moss Hall fairly demoralised and after setting them a target of 270 we contained them to 253 and we were in the final!.
The final against All Saints was a great game which could have gone either way. All Saints batted first and scored 263. We were fairly confident of chasing the total down but they had some excellent bowlers and we came to the last 2 overs requiring 22. We had reduced the target to 14 runs off 9 balls when an All Saints fielder took a stunning catch on the boundary and that turned the game and we eventually fell short by just 4 runs. Well done to all the squad on a great day’s cricket.

Squad: Joseph, Oliver, Elliot, John, Luke, Eli, Abigail, Klevis and Luke

Football - Yr5 Borough Finals - 28.04.10 (updated on 28/04/2010 22:43:21)
Yr5 warmed up for the Borough Finals with a series of mini-matches against Christchurch School in which Foulds ran out winners each time. In the five mini matches the score and scorers were 2-0 (Dom x2), 1-0 (Dom), 2-0 (Rufus, Jake), 2-0 (Dom, Jake), 2-0 (Mac, Dom).
The following Wednesday the team travelled to Livingstone school yesterday to take part in the Borough Finals. The 16 team tournament is held each year for the top four team from the Barnet East, Central, West and South partnerships. Foulds were drawn in Group A alongside Brookland Juniors, Broadfields and the hosts Livingstone.
In first game against Brookland, Foulds were caught early by a fiery shot that hit the roof of the net. In the short 8 minute game there wasn’t much time to reply and the game ended frustratingly 1-0 to Brookland.
The second game against Livingstone was a very exciting game with chances at both ends. From the start, Foulds looked more dangerous with Dom’s drive hitting the upright. Ashley made some great saves and George also inspired the team as he push the team forwards from midfield. Foulds’ hard work was rewarded when Dom’s shot squeezed over the line and the team won 1-0.
In a tight group, all the teams were still in contention going into the last game and Foulds needed a win to guarantee progression to the quarter finals. Broadfields took the lead early so Foulds had to chase the game. Unfortunately Foulds couldn’t find an equaliser and were hit by a late second and the game finished 2-0.
Well done to Year 5s on a promising season. Thank you to the many parents who attended and helped with transport (we must have had more loyal, travelling fans than any other team).
Team: Ashley (gk), Mac, Tom, George (c), Rufus, Jake, Fintan, Dominic

Football - Yr6 Borough Finals - 24.03.10 (updated on 31/03/2010 19:27:41)
Last week, Foulds’ Year 6 football team went to Livingstone school for the Borough Finals.
Our first match was against Osidge. After starting brightly, Osidge’s passing, movement and shooting proved too much. Each of their three shots found the back of the net and the game finished 3-0.
After that the team’s spirit was low but we were determined to win our second game against St. Mary’s N3. Three minutes into the game, Oliver lobbed the ball over the defence for Elliot to finish to put Foulds into the lead. Later Foulds got a corner and Elliot headed the ball in off the post and the game ended 2-0 to Foulds.
Foulds’ third game against Edgware was the most crucial because only a win would keep us in the tournament. The team knew it would be a tough match and seven minutes into the eight minute game it was 0-0 with both sides having opportunities. With a minute to go, Foulds pushed forward to find the all important goal but we hit on the counter attack and Edgware won 1-0.
Incidentally, Osidge went on to win the tournament beating Edgware in the final.
Team: Klevis, Joseph, Luke, Jordan, Oliver, John, Pathiban and Elliot.

Cross Country - Foulds race to victory - 17.03.10 (updated on 31/03/2010 19:27:11)
Last Wednesday the cross country squad made the trip down to Oak Hill Park to compete in the second meeting of the year. 14 schools from the Cental and East Barnet PE partnerships took part on a glorious afternoon for running. 28 children competed in each race, 2 from each school. Foulds did exceptionally well again with some outstanding performances. We had 1st and 2nd places in two of the races with Mia and Scarlett and then George and Rufus leading from the front in the Y4 Girls' race and the Y5 Boys' race respectively. All of our team played a part in our fourth victory in a row since we first entered the competition; we won with 80 points with Monkfrith school a distant second with a 114 points.

Squad: Mia, Scarlett, Lidia, Woody, Alfie, Max, Elby, Lottie, Eve, George, Rufus, Maya, Ella, John and Luke

Football - Yr4 tournament - 10.03.10 (updated on 16/03/2010 22:19:19)
On Wednesday 10th March the Year 4 football team went to a tournament at Ravenscroft School. There were two groups, both containing 4 schools. We were scheduled to play 3 matches with 3 points awarded for a win, 2 for a draw and 1 for a loss with the top 2 in each group to go through to the semi-finals.
The first match we played was against Moss Hall. We only had 8 minute matches to play against each of the schools and despite dominating the game we couldn’t find a goal and we drew 0-0. In the next match we played was against Whitings Hill. Again despite controlling much of the game we couldn’t find a goal and in the last minute Whitings Hill scored which made the score 1-0 to them. Our last match was against Christchurch, and we all wanted to win. Max and Alfie scored one each as Foulds won 2-0.
All our matches had been played so we all anxiously looked at the scoreboard. Unfortunately Moss Hall and Whitings Hill took first and second position on seven points with us on six. In a fifth/sixth playoff game we met St. Catherines and won comfortably 1-0 to secure fifth place.

Football - Yr5 head for Borough Finals - 27.01.10 (updated on 16/03/2010 22:19:04)
The Year 5 football team travelled to their Barnet Central tournament yesterday. They were drawn in Group B alongside Moss Hall, All Saints, Northside and St Catherines.
In a closely contested first game against Northside, Dominic grabbed the only goal to get the team off to a winning start. In the second game Foulds took on All Saints. George continued to marshal the back and Dominic netted twice for a 2-0 win. In the third game, the team faced Moss Hall. Foulds took the lead before Moss Hall levelled from the spot. However Dominic scored his second of the game and Rufus added a third as Foulds ran out 3-1 winners. In their final group game, Foulds met St. Catherines. Dominic got the opener and Fintan pressured the opposition into an own goal to secure a 2-0 win.
Foulds finished their group games in 1st place with four straight wins. This meant they qualified for the semi-finals and more importantly will represent Barnet Central at the Borough Finals later in the season.
In the semi-finals, Foulds took on Sacred Heart. Foulds started brightly and put the initial pressure on their opponents. However a defensive lapse saw Sacred Heart grab the first goal. As Foulds looked for an equaliser, Sacred Heart scored a second and Foulds were knocked out. In the third place play-off, Foulds met Moss Hall again. Despite Mac’s opener, the team lost some of their momentum and were caught on the break. All three Moss Hall shots hit the back of the net and Foulds finished fourth.
I would like to congratulate the team on their qualification for the Borough Finals and their determination and effort during the tournament.

Football - Yr6 head for Borough Finals - 20.01.10 (updated on 16/03/2010 22:18:43)
Yesterday the Year 6 football team took part in the Barnet Central Football Tournament and were drawn in a tough qualifying group alongside Whitings Hill, St Catherines, Cromer Road, Moss Hall and St Andrews.
The 1st game was against Whtings Hill and the team immediately showed great teamwork and determination to edge the game with a 1-0 victory. The second game saw the team secure another fine victory, this time against Cromer Road 3-1. Foulds won the 3rd game comfortably 4-0 and then won the 4th 2-0 with a solid display against Moss Hall. The team completed their group games with a 4-0 rout of St Andrews with Elliot scoring his second hatrick of the tournament.
With 5 straights win, Foulds won the group and qualified for the semi-finals. They also secured qualification to represent Barnet Central at the Borough Finals to be held later in the Spring.
In the semi-finals the team took on All Saints from group A. Foulds were undeniably the better team, hitting the post and crossbar before a heartbreaking late goal (only the second goal conceded in the tournament) saw the opposition squeeze through to the final. In the 3rd place play-off against Christchurch, Foulds were once again were denied by the woodwork twice. The game ended 0-0 and entered into extra time. Then just seconds before it went to penalties, Christchurch sneaked a goal to clinch third place.
While it was disappointing not to have gone all the way, Foulds convincingly secured qualification to the borough Finals and more importantly the team can be proud of their great effort, sportsmanship and teamwork throughout the tournament.

Tag Rugby - Barnet Champions! - 18.11.09 (updated on 29/11/2009 18:22:16)
Last Wednesday the Foulds tag rugby team travelled to Finchley RFC to compete in the Borough finals. The 8 teams who took part had all qualified through coming 1st or 2nd in their regional competitions so the standard of rugby was high and the prize at stake was to be Barnet's representatives at the London Youth Games in July.
The 8 teams were split into 2 groups with the winners going through to contest the final. Foulds played excellently from the start with their angles of running and support play being particularly impressive. We beat St John's 8 - 6, drew with Edgware 3 - 3 and beat St Mary's 6 - 3 to reach the final on try difference.
In the final we played Chalgrove and overwhelmed them in the first few minutes through great defensive work which gained us possession of the ball and allowed us to build up a 3 - 0 lead. From there we cruised to victory 8 - 4, so Foulds are Barnet champions for the second year in a row. Well done to all the team and a big thank you to Mrs Wilkinson who twisted a few arms at the start of term to get more girls along and has helped with the coaching on Monday after school.
Squad: Oliver, Joseph, Elliot, Luke, John, Ella, Maddie, Megan, Dominic and Mariam.

Tag Rugby - 2008/09 team recognised - 03.11.09 (updated on 25/11/2009 20:59:40)
Last night Foulds attended the Barnet Celebrating Sport Awards 2009. The event is held annually to celebrate the achievements of individuals and teams across the borough. This year the Foulds 2008-09 Rugby team was nominated for the 'Primary School Team of the Year' in recognition of their amazing run last year.

Tag Rugby - Enfield Champions! - 04.11.09 (updated on 15/11/2009 17:57:14)
Last Wednesday the Foulds tag rugby team travelled to Enfield to play in a tag rugby festival at Grange Park School. We were the only non Enfield school invited to take part having previously competed against them in the Tag2Twickenham competition last year. We were lucky with the weather as apart from a short shower it was sunny (if a bit chilly!) all afternoon.
Twelve teams took part and were divided into two groups with the winners and runners up going through to semi finals. In our league group we won 7-3 and 11-3 and drew our other match, leading to a semi final against St Georges which we won 8-6. In the final we played the host school and in a really exciting match managed to get ahead very near the end to win 10-8. The team played exceptionally well all afternoon and our 'tagging' and defence were particularly impressive.
They now have to invite us back next year as we have their trophy!
Squad: Oliver (captain), Maddie, Mariam, Megan, Ella, Joseph, Elliot, John, Luke, Dominic and George.

Tag Rugby - Foulds take silver - 21.10.09 (updated on 25/10/2009 12:46:18)
Last Wednesday the tag rugby squad made the short walk to QE Boys' School to take part in the Central Partnership tag rugby festival. 11 teams took part from 8 different schools and Foulds sent along 3 sides, the Foulds Falcons, Foulds Foxes and Foulds Fliers. It was a great afternoon and we were very lucky with the weather. Each team was looked after by a Y11 from QE Boys' who also refereed the matches.
All three Foulds teams played some excellent tag rugby and most of the games were close and exciting. After the league stages the top 4 teams went on to play semi finals and then a final while the other sides played one more game to decide the minor placings. Foulds Falcons qualified for the semi final which they won convincingly 7 - 3 to set up a final against Cromer Road. In a really superb match, with virtually faultless rugby from both teams, we lost 9 - 8. Although disappointed to lose we were pleased we had qualified for the Borough finals in November.
Well done to all the children who took part!

Squad: Oliver, Maddie, Joseph, Mariam, Luke, Ella, Megan, Elliot, John, Dominic, Eli, Abigail, Jamie, Jake, Bea, Persia, Bradley, Daniel, Owen, Sam, Frazier, Jerome, Maryam, Cecilia, Aimee, Martin, Tom and George.

Cross Country - Champions! A hatrick! - 07.10.09 (updated on 25/10/2009 12:45:23)
Last Wednesday the cross country team travelled to Oak Hill Park to represent Foulds against 18 other Barnet schools. This crosscountry meeting is held in October and February each year and there was a distinct Autumnal feel in the air as the children gathered to take part.
There were 6 races altogether, with 2 boys or 2 girls from each school running in each race across Years 4, 5 and 6. To simplify things for any readers who are by now getting a little confused - 6 races consisting of 38 children of the same age and gender!
Foulds had won this competition on the last two occasions it had been held so we had high hopes that our runners might make it a hatrick of wins! Every one of our children came in the top 20 and eight of them came in the top 10, with three podium finishes putting Foulds firmly in 1st place overall once again!

Results:
1st Foulds 102
2nd St Johns 155
3rd All Saints 155

Squad: Joseph, John, Maya, Eve, George, Rufus, Lottie, Olivia, Woody, Alfie, Mia and Scarlett

Football - Mount Grace Tournament - 03.10.09 (updated on 25/10/2009 12:43:52)
Last Saturday, Foulds enjoyed a pre-season football tournament held at Mount Grace School. Foulds were drawn in Group C alongside teams from Ladbrooke, Cranbourne and Pope Paul Primary Schools.
In the opening game against Ladbrooke, Foulds battled well in a closely contested first half. However goal scoring chances remained at a premium until Foulds finally made a breakthrough in the second half when Domenic netted. Unfortunately the lead lasted less than a minute when Foulds struggled to clear and the ball was bundled home and the game ended 1-1.
The second game against Cranbourne saw Foulds largely dominate. With Luke and Joseph marshalling the defence, some slick passing from the midfield helped create a number of chances and Oliver finally made the pressure pay when he rifled a shot into the top corner. However once again the lead was short lived when a speculative punt bounced over the Foulds keeper into the goal. Foulds created several chances to retake the lead but the game finished frustratingly 1-1.
The final game against Pope Paul saw a determined Foulds side once again dominate. Foulds took the lead in the first half when Domenic slotted home. In the second half it was once again all one-way traffic and Jordan made it 2-0 for a comfortable win.
Foulds finished the group stage in second place with two draws and a win, just missing out on a semi final spot. Whilst they may rue two lost leads, the boys can be proud of their promising display in their first ever school matches. They all represented the school well on and off the pitch and we hope there will be much more to come from them this season.

Team: Klevis, Joseph, Luke, Jordan, George, Elliot, Rufus, Oliver and Domenic.

Cricket - Barnet Schools competition - 03.06.09 (updated on 25/10/2009 12:43:24)
Last Wednesday the Foulds kwik cricket team went to Old Elizabethan's cricket ground to play in the Borough festival. 23 schools took part, a record entry, and everyone had a great time. Schools were put into league groups of 5 or 6 teams with the top two sides in each group progressing to the next round of knock out matches.
Foulds played their first match against Woodridge made a promising start scoring 236 in their 8 over innings (each side starts with 200 runs and then loses 5 runs for each dismissal and scores runs in the normal way) and then restricted Woodridge to 227. However matches got harder after that and 2 sides we played, St Pauls and Dollis, were very good and beat us convincingly. We got back on the winning trail against Queenswell winning by 265 to 268, and then lost our final match against St Mary's. Everyone played really well and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Squad: Liam, Edward, Gabriel, Asad, Khemsangfung, Olive, Sophie, Erika, Freya and Veda.

Tag Rugby - Foulds 2nd in London - 02.07.09 (updated on 25/10/2009 12:42:31)
Last Thursday the tag rugby team travelled down to Crystal Palace National Sports Stadium to represent Barnet against 32 other London Boroughs in the London Youth Games. We had qualified for this by winning the Borough tag rugby tournament back in November and over the last few months had spent a lot of time in training preparing for the big day.
When we arrived we were divided up into pools of 3 teams and we played each team in our pool twice; a total of 4 games. We were in a group with Kingston and Redbridge and initially we played quite nervously drawing our first 2 games 2-2 and 4-4, but in the return fixtures we found our form and won 3-1 and 5-3 which sent us through to the next stage as group winners.
All the teams were put into new groups according to their results, with all the winning teams put in with each other, so we now found ourselves having to play at a much higher standard. We were again in a group of 3 teams following the same format as before. Having lost our first game 2-4 we went into overdrive winning our next 3 games 4-3, 4-1 and 3-2 which sent us into the semi finals to play Merton who we
beat 5-4 on the final play of the game. This set up a final against Richmond, who unbelievably had reached the final for 6 years in a row! They were a very good team with an exceptional defence and despite playing really well we went down 3-5.
A huge well done to all the children; the 2nd best tag rugby team in London. A great achievement!

Athletics - Foulds 1st at Copthall - 01.07.09 (updated on 25/10/2009 12:39:45)
Last Wednesday, on a scorchingly hot Summer's day, the annual inter schools athletics competition took place at Copthall Stadium. Foulds competed in the medium sized schools section against children from 7 other teams. In the morning it was the turn of the athletes taking part in the field events, comprising high jump, long jump, javelin and ball throwing. Everyone from Foulds competed well and a number of children recorded personal bests in their events, with Joel and Olive both long jumping over 4 metres and
Thomas, Veda and Elliot all pushing the high jump bar well over the 1.20m mark.
In the afternoon it was the turn of the track and tug of war team. Over 2 hours we saw a high standard of sprinting, distance and relay running, with the distance runners in particular deserving special mention for keeping going in the baking heat; it was hard enough standing still in the sun, let alone running 500m in it! Cheered on by 60 loud and supportive children from Foulds we continued to do well. The tug of war team lost in the final to Danegrove, but when all the points had been added up from the morning and afternoon we had managed to win the medium schools field events, the girls' relay shield and the overall medium schools trophy. The final icing on the cake was to discover we had scored more points than any other school in the small, medium and large schools competitions (a total of 27 schools) which meant Foulds are the overall champions for 2009!
Well done to all the team for a great effort and thank you to all the parents who came along to support and to Mr Neusten for the photographs.

Tag Rugby - Tag to Twickenham - 13.05.09 (updated on 25/10/2009 12:35:33)
On Wednesday the tag rugby squad travelled by minibus to Chigwell, Essex, to compete in the North London regional qualifying round of 'Tag to Twickenham'. The eventual winners of this tournament play at Twickenham in front of 80,000 people before the England v New Zealandninternational.
Top teams from all over North London took part and the rugby was of a very high standard; one poor pass or knock on in the 6 minute matches and you were likely to lose!  Foulds played exceptionally well and were one of the best teams there. We defended with great determination and organisation, and in attack we put together moves involving 6 or 7 high quality passes and great running before scoring our tries. During the afternoon we won 4 of our 7 matches in 2 league groups and finished in 6th place out of 18 teams.
We might not have won but we came back to Foulds with a big bag of rugby goodies having been nominated for the fairplay 'Spirit of rugby' award.  Well done to everyone!

Squad: Liam, Veda, Olive, Freya, Adelaide, Shannon, Claudia, Joel, Thomas, Richard, Luke and Oliver.

Dance - Foulds win Rock Challenge(again)- 29.04.09 (updated on 25/10/2009 12:34:36)
Last year we took part in Rock Challenge for the first time and with a fantastic team and a great Choreographer in Kirsty we won overall. So the pressure was on to see if we could do it all again in 2009 and as I reported in last week’s newsletter we did! There were seven schools taking part and the Hackney Empire was full of everyone's supporters, creating a fantastic atmosphere in which all the children performed so well. Each dance was judged by three judges for Performance, Drama and Design and Production and they awarded marks for each, as well as giving marks for the overall impact of the piece.
As well as Foulds winning overall we also won awards for best Set Design and Staging, best Lighting Design and best Stage Crew.
Our dance was called ‘Hero, Born for a Purpose’, where hooded jokers symbolised the destruction in everyday life and Emma, just a child, expressed all our desire s to be heroes and make a difference. The children had been working on the dance for 6 months.
Our dancers were Shayne, Sankavi, Ella, Rosie, Veda, Kitty, Thomas A, Olive, Joel, Saskia, Bea, Khemsangfung, Ella, Olivia, Megan, Adelaide, Frankie, Sophie and Eve and our stage crew were Nathan, Claudia, Maddie, Lucy W, Erika, Maddie, Joseph,
Oliver, Liam, Ayesha, Gabriel and Joe.
The children were a credit to Foulds not only in the evening but throughout the day where they took part in dance and drama workshops and rehearsed. Well done to them on their well deserved achievement.

Cross Country - Champions again! - 25.02.09 (updated on 25/10/2009 12:29:36)
Last Wednesday 12 children from Foulds went to Oak Hill Park, East Barnet, to represent the school in a cross country league.
We were defending the shield we had won in October when we entered for the first time, so the pressure was on to see if we could repeat our success! The children had to run just under a mile around the outside of the park. 18 schools took part from across Barnet and each school was allowed to enter 2 children in each race, so in each individual race 36 children took part!
There were races for Y4 girls, Y4 boys, Y5 girls, Y5 boys, Y6 girls and Y6 boys. The Y4 boys got us off to a great start with George and Rufus coming 1st and 2nd in their race and we continued in the same vein being very consistent as a team with 10 of our
12 runners making it into the top 10 in their races. A big thank you to all the parents and grandparents who came along to
support and help with transport.

Squad: Hannah, Lottie, Rufus, George, Maya, Mona, Joseph, John, Olive, Veda, Thomas and Joel.

Tag Rugby - Barnet Champions! - 20.11.08 (updated on 25/10/2009 12:19:20)
Last Wednesday the tag rugby team went to Finchley RFC to play in the Borough finals. The eight schools who took part were the best tag rugby teams in Barnet as all of them had qualified as winners or runners up from the regional tournaments which took place last month. Foulds had qualified as the winners of the Central Partnership competition. The eight teams were drawn in 2 groups of 4 and we were in a strong group with Dollis, Livingstone and St Marys/St Johns.
Our first game was possibly the best of the tournament and Foulds managed to win a fast, exciting match full of good rugby by 7-6.
In our second game we were guilty of failing to take 3 clear chances and in another close contest we lost 4-3 which brought us to our final group game needing a win to give us a chance of making the semi finals. Fortunately we controlled the match from start to finish and won 5-2.
We qualified for the semi final as group runner up and played the winners of the other group, Church Hill. In an end to end game we defended magnificently and scored some great team tries when we had possession to squeeze out a 5-4 win. This set up a local derby in the final against Christ Church. In another tense, exciting match we managed to 'turn them over' and win possession of the ball early in the game which in tag rugby is all important. From there we managed to score every time we had the ball which meant we were always 1 try ahead. With 30 seconds to go we again defended superbly to force Christ Church into a mistake and we raced away to seal a 6-4 victory. This means that not only are we Barnet champions but we get to represent the Borough in the London Youth Games later in the year. Well done to the children for this magnificent achievement and of course to their coach Mr Browett

Squad: Liam, Olive, Thomas, Joel, Freya, Richard, Adelaide, Luke, Sankavi and Shannon.

Tag Rugby - Foulds Falcon victorious - 22.10.08 (updated on 25/10/2009 12:13:21)
On the Wednesday before half term two teams from Foulds, the Foulds Falcons and the Foulds Foxes, went down to Barnet RFC to compete in the regional tag rugby tournament. There were 7 teams taking part and everyone played everyone else over the course of the afternoon.
The standard of rugby at the regional tournament can sometimes be a little variable but this year there were a number of strong teams taking part and there were lots of close, exciting games. The Foulds Foxes won 4 of their 6 games and the Foulds Falcons won 5 of their 6 games. The last match of the afternoon for our sides was against each other and after a titanic struggle the Foxes won 7-6! Despite this defeat the Falcons still finished as tournament winners and now go forward to play the other regional winners in the Borough final on 19th November. Well done to both teams.

Foulds Foxes: Claudia, Oliver, Justin, Tom, Eworitse, Khemsangfung, Lucy W, Rosie and Adelaide
Foulds Falcons: Liam, Olive, Freya, Veda, Sankavi, Shannon, Joel, Thomas, Richard and Luke.

Cross Country - Champions - 01.10.08 (updated on 25/10/2009 12:07:54)
Last Wednesday 12 children from Foulds went to Oak Hill Park, East Barnet, to represent the school in a cross country league.
This is the first time we have entered this event so we didn't know what to expect, but we had a very exciting, and a very successful afternoon. The children had to run just under a mile around the outside of the park. 19 schools took part from across Barnet and each school was allowed to enter 2 children in each race, so in each individual race 38 children took part!
There were races for Y4 girls, Y4 boys, Y5 girls, Y5 boys, Y6 girls and Y6 boys. Although we only had one runner in the 'medal positions', we were very consistent as a team with 10 of our 12 runners making it into the top 10 in their races. Although it was a bit chilly and tipped down with rain at one point we had a great afternoon.        I am delighted to let you know that we won the event overall coming first out of the 19 schools. A trophy is on its way to us!! A huge thank you to all the parents and grandparents who came along to supportand help with transport and thank you to Mr Browett for arranging the event.

Foulds win Dick Bailey Cup! (updated on 24/05/2006 19:28:51)
The football team have won the most prized trophy in Barnet Primary football for the first time in their history. The Dick Bailey Cup now sits proudly in the reception area of the school office after a nail biting final against Frith Manor on Tuesday at Burnt Oak Leisure Centre. The match was a great advertisement for Under 11 football with the quality of play from both sides of a high standard. Foulds dominated most of the first half as Frith Manor struggled to come to terms with the speed and accuracy of our passing movements. We often strung together 4 or 5 passes in moving from defence into attack and we created a number of chances but the Frith Manor goalkeeper denied us with some fine saves. The breakthrough came from two set pieces as first Daniel and then Mason headed great goals from pinpoint corners by Dean to give us a 2-0 lead. Frith Manor had some skillful, pacy players and just before half time they scored to make it 2-1.
The second half was a tense affair as Foulds couldn't maintain their dominance from the first half and Frith Manor pinned us back in defence for long periods. We were still very threatening on the break and although Frith Manor had a lot of the ball they rarely looked like getting past our defence which was rock solid. At last the final whistle sounded and the celebations could begin. Winning this competition is a fantastic achievement and it is a great credit to the team that they produced their best performance of the season when it really mattered. Lots of supporters came to the match and it is significant that when asked "Who was your man of the match?" everyone came up with a different player - this just shows that every member of the team had a great game.
We still have one match to play, the final of the North Barnet Cup, and we hope to finish a memorable season with another trophy.
